چکیده

This paper reports on a two-task principal-agent experiment in which only one task is contractible. The principal can either offer a piece-rate contract or a (voluntary) bonus to the agent. Bonus contracts strongly outperform piece rate contracts. Many principals reward high efforts on both tasks with substantial bonuses. Agents anticipate this and provide high efforts on both tasks. In contrast, almost all agents with a piece rate contract focus on the first task and disregard the second. Principals understand this and predominantly offer bonus contracts. This behavior contradicts the self-interest theory but is consistent with theories of fairness.

An Experimental Investigation of Fairness and Reciprocal Behavior in a Triangular Principal–Multiagent Relationship

Issues of fairness in hierarchies have been mostly investigated – both theoretically and experimentally – within dyadic principal–agent relationships. In this paper we consider triangular principal–multiagents structures, integrating vertical hierarchical relationships with horizontal agent–to–agent ones. We explore in the laboratory a game that allows to investigate how principal’s fairness af...

Automatic Generation of a Multi Agent System for Crisis Management by a Model Driven Approach

Considering the increasing occurrences of unexpected events and the need for pre-crisis planning in order to reduce risks and losses, modeling instant response environments is needed more than ever. Modeling may lead to more careful planning for crisis-response operations, such as team formation, task assignment, and doing the task by teams. A common challenge in this way is that the model shou...
